CASTAWAY - [noun] a person that escapes when their ship is sunk and manages to reach the shore very often of an abandoned island

The castaway of the shipwreck of 1990 survived on a desert island and was found in 2001 completely insane.

The group of castaways managed to get to the land and spent 3 years trying to survive, but they were run out of food and they all died of starvation.
